The thing about life is…

You always think you have one more day
to make things right,
to say you’re sorry,
to hold a loved one tight

You never think the day will come
when all those thoughts that whooshed through your mind
never find the other bookend
that keeps its side of the bargain…

The last piece of the puzzle that fits into the empty space,
so all the other pieces can make a whole

You never think the day will come
when the words that were meant to be said
stay wrapped up inside your tongue,
a tightly woven thought that will never become undone

I’m so sorry, Lauren. I well understand the heart break of losing one of our precious fur-babies. No matter how long we have them, it’s never long enough. My sympathies to you and Jim. Big hugs.

      Thanks Jayne.

It’s been tough because our cat went missing a week ago last Sunday. She got out at night. There are a lot of predators in the area: coyotes, foxes and a fisher cat, a weasel. The fisher cat is the worst predator because it can climb trees.

Yep, they sure tug at our heart strings. The worst thing about it…we don’t know what happened to her. She went missing over a week ago. She was sick, on medication, and only weighed 5 1/2 pounds.

Lauren, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I so understand what you are feeling right now because I have gone through this with both my kitties, who were in my life for 19 years.

Your words here are so accurate and beautifully expressed…

“You never think the day will come

Please know that my thoughts are with you and Jim.

Thanks Ron. It sucks! She got out at night over a week ago. We presume that she’s dead. The night she went missing I heard an awful animal sound in the woods behind our house. It wasn’t a cat. It was probably a fisher, a weasel, a deadly predator.

I had a cat for 19 years. He was baby. We got him several years before I had my son. It killed me the day he died.

      Thank you Nicky.

Our cat went missing over a week ago Sunday and presumed dead. I think she was killed by a fisher. You probably have them in Canada. They are like land sharks. Shit, now I’m thinking about Saturday Night Live and John Belushi.

Oh I am so so so sorry. 🙁 I had a dalmatian named Freckles… that name brings back memories. Not knowing exactly what happened must be so hard… I am hurting for you! 🙁

      Thank you, Katherine.

I think whatever happened to her happened the night she disappeared. I heard a terrible animal sound. It could have been foxes or a fisher cat. There’s a den of foxes in the woods behind our house. If Freckles wandered near it, the mother fox would have defended the den and attacked her. We’ll never know. This area is too vast and wooded.
